Technology is always around us no matter what and it is becoming super popular especially in the education world. I like the idea of finally incorporating technology in the classroom because growing up it was not there for me. I mean it was, but I could clearly remember when they started giving teachers their very own desk top computers in their classrooms, I was in the second grade. For us all we did on the computers was how to open up Word Documents and mess around with it and how to save it to our floppy disks or print out one of those cool word art. That was my technology education back then. However, it has completely changed. Now in classrooms there are smart boards, each student has a chrome book, students know how to use social media and making a power point is not cool anymore like it was with us. There are good things that come with technology and I do like it and enjoy it because for me it gives learning a whole new outlook. There is no need to buy books you can rent them on the Internet and someone will probably read it to you (audio books). It is not for someone like me, but it is for someone out there who prefers that option. Which is what I like about technology and education they give many options on learning. On the other hand there is downfalls to it like there is for anything. A big concern for me is mixing social media and education. I feel that many kid out here do not understand the problem with social media and education mixing, such as cyber bullying, or video/ photos being leaked that should never be on the Internet. Though, some people are great with mixing those combos together, to me I feel it is such a mess which is why I consider it a negative with technology especially in education.

I am one for using technology in the classrooms and having that being a part of a tool in learning. That does not mean I want to get rid of pen and paper because there are some things I would prefer using a pen and paper for and not typing it out on a screen. It all depends how it will be used and having a good mindset of that tool.

  2. I feel the best way for teachers to help students with social media is to talk to them about the dangers that may come with it and how to avoid it or how to report it any issues they may have it social media.
