What I know about technology for Education
When I was in school, technology wasn't really there. By this I mean we had a general computer class, but did I personally take anything away from it? No, and I left it to that. Since then I have noticed how much technology has been put into schools. At first, I am not going to lie, I was jealous because I wish I had that. To me, I just saw laptops given to students and thinking "What do they need that for? What is wrong with paper and a pencil?" I was not educated on the real use of technology and for that, I did not understand the true knowledge behind it.
Since I was not part of the technology in school generation, I was excited to learn about it during this course. From week one all the way from week five, I can say that I took so much from this class that I want to start using it now. Though I do not have a classroom to actually use it in, I do want to practice more on it. From this class, I have a better understanding of why students need technology in the classroom and nothing is wrong with paper and a pencil it is still being used, but now there is another option they can benefit as well.
This best part of this is the many different ways technology can be used and it is endless. One thing that I saw on social media was a robot named Milo. Milo the robot is designed to be interesting and approachable for students who have ASD and it is a non-threatening way for learners with ASD to practice their communication and social skills. I thought this was an amazing technology tool for students who have ASD and that there is more technology to be found other than just a laptop.
I am sad that this class is ending because it definitely feels that we just started. I am taking so much from this class that I am still in awe about it. I enjoyed learning how to create my own google classroom and how to make a google form. I always wondered how it is done and the mechanical works behind it. Technology is such a huge factor in education and I am glad to have the new knowledge that I have gained from this course to utilize it to its fullest extent.
