What sort of a Learner are you?

What sort of a learner am I? That is an answer that I learned once I was an adult in college. In elementary school, I honestly did not know there were types of learning styles because I was never given the choice of how I wanted to learn something. I would remember to draw pictures in my notes and labeling everything just for me to understand my notes or having to see a picture of how to build furniture instead of reading everything on there. It was very noticeable when I would always go on YouTube to see how things are done and doing it hands-on. That is where I saw that I am a visual learner and also a hands-on type learner.

I am a visual learner and hands-on learner and that is these are the type of learning styles I personally like. I can have wording and audio, but there has to be a visual there that I can understand more of what a person is saying or if I am reading some sort of text along with it. In school, it was hard when visuals were not always provided for a lesson. One example that I had a hard time with was in reading as a whole group. I remember my 6th-grade teacher reading a chapter book to us out loud and the whole time I could not follow along for the life of me. So it would be hard for me to take a quiz right after when I could not picture visuals in my head because I had to listen to the teacher read out loud. I do read chapter books on my own just not out loud and I can picture visuals in my head where I can follow along. This is good for me to understand the type of leaner I am because since I know how I learn I also would want to know how my future students want to learn and what is best for them to achieve a good learning outcome.

One idea that we were introduced with was Flipped Learning. I think it is a cool idea to use for many students. I can see myself using it and liking it a lot. I think the concept behind it is very unique. On the other hand, I can see some downfall with it. It might be a struggle for students who are used to the old learning way. Which is going to school, learn there and then send homework home to do. With flipped learning it is was it is flipped. You would learn at home and then come to school to ask any questions or reflect on what you had learned on your own and do homework there. I feel that maybe that is where I myself would struggle with. I like doing homework at home and I have my own set up of doing homework. At school, I do not feel like I can create my own personal set up there. Another reason would be not having access to the Internet or can not find a charger or left it at school. So it would not help some students if they had a situation like that going on.

I think flipped learning would be good for certain subjects such as math and science. I know in math students (even for me) would like to rewatch how a certain problem is done and in the way the teacher taught it. It would also be good to look back for review time for a test.
